Govt started 14449 toll free number, the phone will go directly to DG control room only after complaining against police.

The Gujarat High Court took a suo moto cognizance in the case of a police crackdown on a couple returning from the airport near Oganaj in Ahmedabad, which was being heard before a bench of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Anirudh Mayi.

A further hearing was held today in the High Court on this issue. In the court’s previous hearing, the government had given the number 14449 to file a complaint against the police, which has now been activated. After complaining to the police, the phone will go to the direct DG control room. Advocate General Kamal Trivedi said on behalf of the government that this number will be activated in the next day. After that it will be announced through different media for public awareness. This number has been given to the state by the central government. This helpline will be operational 24×7. Anti- Corruption Bureau’s helpline 1064 for prevention of corruption and women’s helpline 1091 for women help are also prevalent in the state. Similarly, this helpline number will also be used to file a complaint against the police. A friend of the court also sought to announce some important emergency national helpline numbers. The state showed a positive reaction on that issue.

Make the helpline clear “Courts know how the common man is treated in police stations, commissioner’s offices and collector’s offices. We know the ground level facts. We have our own experience, the government should tell the people that where is against police brutality? to whom And when to complain. Display the helpline clearly so that a first-time visitor knows what it is for. Give the number of complaint cell and write it clearly so that people can understand.
