21% turnout in Goa, 4 in Uttarakhand and 2 in the second phase of UP

Assembly elections were held in Goa, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Turnout was as high as 5 per cent for Goa’s 20 seats. In UP, 61 per cent voting was recorded for the second phase of 6 seats. In the elections held for 70 seats in Uttarakhand, the turnout was 8%

The second phase of polling was held in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Voting was held on 9 seats in nine districts. The turnout was 31.8 percent. Voting was held for all the 20 seats in Uttarakhand, with a turnout of 7.5 per cent. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his wife were charged with breach of code of conduct. The opposition had alleged that the couple had come to the polls wearing scarves emblazoned with the BJP election symbol. His complaint was made to the Election Commission.

In UP, 6 seats of the second phase were polled. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted before the polls: “Vote for a riot-free and fear-free Uttar Pradesh.

In the Goa Legislative Assembly, 60 seats were up for grabs. A total of 301 candidates contested the elections. The fate of all of them was sealed in the ballot box. Goa recorded three per cent less turnout than in the last election. Apart from BJP-Congress in Goa, Aam Aadmi Party and Trinamool Congress candidates are also in the fray.
