Govt pays Rs 70.80 lakh to 1247 landowners for 1.5 lakh per hectare land for Dholera Road project

With the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) in Ahmedabad district, a 109.019 km 4/6 lane express highway will be constructed from Sardar Patel Ring Road to Dholera Sir, due to which the road from Sarkhej to Dholera will be 80 minutes instead of two hours. For the 109.019 km road project in Dholera, the government has paid Rs. Out of the total 1462, 215 account holders are owed Rs 76.19 crore. Land acquisition has been going on since 2018. Currently 92 per cent work has been completed, the remaining eight per cent work will be completed by March 31.

Road work of infrastructure has started from 2021. The initial estimated cost of the project including land acquisition is Rs. 4822 crore. The total cost behind the project is estimated at Rs 6802 crore. In order to carry out the Dholera Sir project without any hindrance, the government has given farmers an estimated 46 times higher price of Rs 70 lakh against the market price of Rs 1.5 lakh per acre of land. It is claimed to be a much better expressway than the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Express Highway.

Ahmedabad District Collector Sandeep Sangal said that the expressway project has an elevated corridor of 71.07 km from Sanathal to Pimpaligam in Dholera taluka. The project is divided into four sections. A total compensation of Rs.949.10 crore has been fixed by acquiring 889.19 hectares of land belonging to private owners of 24 villages under packages 1, 2 and 3 of the project under the provisions of National Highway Act, 1956.For this, land of 1462 account holders has been acquired. Out of this 847.38 hectares of land has been acquired by paying compensation of Rs. 872.91 crore to 1247 account holders. Thus 92 per cent of the land acquisition work has been completed.
