Shankaracharya of Jyortimatha and Sarada Peeth will be cremated tomorrow at Paramahansi Ganga Ashram in Narsinghpur.

Shankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswatiji of Jyortimatha Badrinath and Sharada Peeth Dwarka has passed away at the age of 99. He breathed his last at 3.30 pm at Paramahansi Ganga Ashram in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Swami Shankaracharya was ill for a long time. Swami Shankaracharya also went to jail in the freedom struggle. So he also fought a long legal battle for the construction of Ram temple.Shankaracharya’s disciple Brahma Vidyananda said that Swami Swarupananda Saraswati will be buried at Paramahansi Ganga Ashram on Monday at 5 pm.

Birthday was celebrated on the third day

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sriswami Swarupananda Saraswatiji is the Shankaracharya of two Maths (Dwarka and Gyortimath). Swami Swarupananda Saraswati was born into a Brahmin family in Dighori village near Jabalpur in Siwani district. His parents named him Pothiram Upadhyaya. At the age of 9, he left home and started his pilgrimage. Meanwhile he reached Kashi in Uttar Pradesh And where he got education of Veda-Vedanga, Shastras from Brahmalin Sriswami Karpatri Maharaj. During the year 1942, when he was only 19 years old, he became famous as a revolutionary monk, as the country was fighting for freedom from the British rule. Shankaracharyaji’s 99th birthday was celebrated on the day of Hariyali Teej.
