Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reached the Ravidas Temple in Karol Bagh, Delhi on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti. After darshan at Ravidas Mandir, PM Modi participated in kirtan with the women present and he also played kartal.

PM Modi had on Tuesday said that he would reach Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham temple at Karol Bagh in Delhi today. Modi said that he has prayed for the welfare of the people here.
Devotees were singing bhajans while Modi joined them. The Prime Minister sat among the devotees and played the kartal. In Uttar Pradesh too, many great leaders are arriving at their birthplace on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy will visit the birthplace of Saint Ravidas Maharaj at Shirgovardhanpur in Varanasi on Wednesday.
PM Modi tweeted, Wednesday is the birth anniversary of great saint Guru Ravidas Ji. He dedicated his life to eradicating vices like racism and untouchability from the society. They inspire us all today.
Saint Ravidas was associated with the Bhakti movement from the 15th to the 16th century and his bhajans are included in the Guru Granth Sahib. He is considered to be the founder of 21st century Ravidasiya religion. Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated on Magh Purnima, which falls on the full moon day of the month of Magh according to the Hindu calendar.
